The first picture is of me with my Apple //c. It was taken when the machine was new, back in 1985. The second picture is of me sleeping at Zuma beach near Malibu. (taken many years ago.) It was a nice day and I needed a little rest! The 3rd picture is of me and my Dad at the beach near San Fransisco. It was taken in July 97. [Also pretty old]
People tell me I like to take stuff apart. You know what? It's true. I used to have a habbit of never putting the stuff
back together again. But.... I've learned the fine art of reassembly. I pretty much take everything apart. And more recently I've wanted to get more into electronics. I've purchased an Osciloscope and some other test gear. Now, when I take something apart I want to be able to do analysis on it as well.
Examples of things I've taken apart: My car, my motorcycle, microwave, DVD player, cell phone, Tivo, stereo, computer monitor, TV and it goes on and on...
What can I say? I'm curious. And it's fun to see how it works.
So as you can see, I'm pretty inquisitive. If it's technology, I'm pretty interested in it. I work as a System Engineer at work and it keeps me busy and relatively up to date. I make sure I visit lots of tech sites to keep myself informed.
I like to stay somewhat fit. I have tried to make it a habit to get to the beach every weekend for some rollerblading. Friends almost always come with me -- and we always stop for Lemonade at the Hot Dog on a Stick near the peir. I try to walk around in West Hollywood instead of drive too. Lucky for me, I stay somewhat fit from this. I don't go to the gym and don't have any interest to. I definitly don't do any of this to look better -- I just want to be healthy. :-)
I think with all the things I like to do I would do more of them more often! It doesn't seem to happen. I love to ski but havn't gone in a few years. I like theater but I always seem to miss the shows I want to see when they are in town. I like to work on my car but I can hardly find time to change its oil. I like to camp but I havn't done that in years either. Travel? I want to also but I just never seem to make time. I have plenty of vacation time stored up, though .. just no one to use it with I guess. :-)
I love music. I listen to it all the time. I have a rather large collection of MP3 files at work and at home and also a large CD collection. I also love to break out the old LP's sometimes and listen to them as well. There has been many a times at work when I've needed to concentrate so I put on a pair of headphones and put Winamp on random. I have very wide range of music tastes. It pretty much runs the gamut. The only types I'm not very interested in is Rap/Hip-hop and Country. Though there are exceptions to that as well. I love Jazz, Classical, Electronic, House, Pop, Soul, oldies, Rock, indie, mainstream, off-beat, ambient, trance, and more. KCRW Morning Becomes eclectic is a wonderful program.
Personality wise, I'm pretty easy going. I'm sure I've been know to say: "Whatever you want to eat" or "wherever you want to go" more than a few times. (Maybe too often.) I was an only child so I'm very good at self-entertainment. (No pun intended!) I can easily keep myself busy for hours on end. I am the type of person that if I didn't have a job I could easily keep myself locked in my apartment all day, every day and never complain about boredom. So overall, high level of independance.
But then, I do value greatly human contact as well. I know all my neighbors quite well and am friends with some of them. Something I think isn't very common in Los Angeles. Sometimes people come over to visit and are amused how I end up talking to one or two or more of my neighbors on the short distance from my front door to the front gate. Haha.
I'm a major computer geek. I love 'em. I have several at home. A have 3 on my desk at work. They are just such useful tools and they provide me a nice living as well. But then, even though I use them so much, I love to get away from them too. Take a nice vacation and not even look at one. I would love to have a house out in the country somewhere with no technology. Curl up next to the fire with a good book. I love that.
